Jaybirds persevere through late show in Super Netball

The Collingwood Jaybirds have prepared for the Super Netball semi-finals in thrilling plan following gripping their best four spot no matter what a 56-54 misfortune to the Melbourne Women.

Requiring a victory or tight hardship to finish fourth before defending champions NSW Swifts, the Jaybirds followed by two targets in the dying seconds of Monday's derby struggle at John Cain Field with Women goaler Mwai Kumwenda organizing a two-point shot that would have discarded them from the finals.

However, Kumwenda's slim possibility missed the mark as the alert sounded with Collingwood players and staff wildly holding on for insistence that they would make their most critical finals appearance since the 2019 season.

I looked at to results and I thought it was two (goals) and we were done, then, I saw Kelsey (Browne's) face as she was like 'no, we've done it' and a short time later it was as simple as that. Sentiments? Gone, Geva Mentor told Fox Netball.

Collingwood will scramble toward Sydney to take on the Beasts in next Sunday's minor semi-last while Melbourne will have West Coast Fever in Saturday night's critical semi-last.

The Jaybirds were shaken not long before their season-portraying struggle with co-boss Flotsam and jetsam Brazill and protect Jodi-Ann Ward constrained to join Maggie Lind and lead mentor Nicole Richardson uninvolved due to prosperity and security shows.

The lack of Ward incited the Jaybirds to hand surrendered Australian Gems protect Renae Ingles a shock return to merciless netball, the 35-year-old joining the team to stand up to her past Women accomplices following three years out of the game.

Melbourne held a restricted 16-15 lead after one quarter with Jaybirds debutant Casey Adamson unveiling an extraordinary starting to her affiliation occupation in her direction with current Gems captain Liz Watson.

With the Women starting to gain the order, Jaybirds watchman coach Kate Upton introduced Ingles part of the way through the second quarter yet the minor premiers remained prepared to extend their advantage 32-27 at halftime.

Collingwood's finals trusts appeared, apparently, to move away when they fell behind by 10 goals in the second from last quarter yet the Jaybirds leveled out the score with a 11-4 starting to the last quarter, by virtue of the enthusiastic work of midcourter Browne and smooth finishing from shooter Shimona Nelson.

While fulfilled to persevere through a serious finishing to record a seventh accomplishment on the run, Women co-boss Watson understands her group can't deal with the expense of one more become faint against the Fever in the extraordinary last qualifier.

It's a genuinely rapid circle back so we're really drawn in for that match and we want to go into those finals really noteworthy, and be here at home in a perfect world we can get the achievement, Watson said.
